Shahrood University of Technology announces an International Conference on Water Resources: Emphasis on Regional Development, to be held in Shahrood, Semnan province, Iran, during 16-18 August, 2009. The conference is organised to consider the significance of water resources in the region. The conference will bring together regional and international water professionals, academics, policy makers, environmental groups, politicians and others involved and interested in Iran water resources issues. As part of the ongoing water resources policy discussion, the conference aims to enhance the understanding of water resources governance, its management, treatment, and use in the region by critically assessing the plan for improvement.

The conference seeks to investigate and understand the existing water resources management strategies in Iran and compare them with those in other countries. The conference will also critically assess the impact of the different projects to reform water resources governance. The scientific knowledge which will be obtained by the conference will help to develop an appropriate water management strategy to protect water resources in the region.
